What is the purpose of Black Bruins? Black Bruins was created to serve as a digital resource to all visitors that have an interest in the "black community" at UCLA. Black Bruins uses the term "black community" as the community of UCLA Bruins that identify with Bruins of similar cultural interest. Black Bruins adheres to all local, state, and federal laws concerning discrimination along the lines of race, ethnicity, sex and religion. Will there be Brown, White, Yellow, Rainbow, or Clear Bruins for those that do not identify with the "Black Bruins"? It is very possible that the successes and or failures of Black Bruins will determine future community specific sites. I have no direct affiliation to "black" people, am I a Black Bruin? If you identify with the "black community" on campus in any way you can claim to be a "Black Bruin". |
